Mission:
Starting a Fury
Location: Langley Station - Japanese Restaurant
Timeline: MD04 - 18.30
ON:
Thae's antennae twitched, she did sense the Andorian's who were a part of the crew, and the other members of the senior staff. She was comforted at the diversity, but concerned as well. Her request for Kate, had gone through, she was glad to have her. Taking a sip of her tea, she smiled. "Yes, it is just dinner, it is not like it is a diplomatic mission."
Seeing Thae arrive, Syzia moved over to introduce herself to the Aenar Doctor. "Good evening, Dr. sh'Valankov, I am Lieutenant Syzia zh'vhirerh, Science Officer, it is a pleasure to meet you, Ma'am."
Thae smiled at the Andorian, she had heard there was one of them on the ship, it would prove to be nice to develop a friendship with. Andorians and Aenar being the same species you’d think they’d develop linear but as Thae researched, they, the Andorians, had developed a need not to have or use telepathy and thus evolved without it. “Agreed, I would like to, how is it said, out-hang sometime? Perhaps on our downtime on the ship or station.”
"I would like that, my I bring my son, Ikal along?" Syzia said.
"Very well. Informing the young of our history is important to me." Thae nodded.
"Sorry, I'm late Commander, I got carried away reviewing the ship's repair logs." Chief Petty Officer Ferguson said.
"No worries, you're just in time." Tim replied. Looking around the room and coming to the conclusion they were complete.
"I'll get the drinks." Relka offered, already standing with the menu in hand. "Me? I think I want sake. You cannot walk away from a Japanese dinner without some alcohol."
“I’ll give the Sake a go too, please,” Ron added, hoping that he wasn’t about to put himself in a position where he becomes a bad example.
Tim stood as the waiter delivered the requested drinks. "Well, welcome everyone. Great of you to join us. I'll keep it brief. Or I'll try at least." he started with a chuckle. "Most of you already met over the last two days, and I'm sure the getting the getting to know will simply continue over the next few weeks. I won't bother you with information about our first mission, also since you should already have recieved it by now. So, let's just eat." He signalled to the waiter they were ready to begin.
The first sign something was wrong wasn’t visual.
It was the shift in the room.
Thae sat among the senior staff of the Fury, hands lightly folded near her plate, posture composed. To anyone watching, she might have seemed still—detached even—but beneath that stillness her awareness stretched outward, a constant, quiet field brushing against every mind at the table.
Calm. Mild boredom. A thread of amusement from the First Officer.
And then—
A ripple.
Not sound. Not sight.
Disruption.
A flicker of confusion—sharp, sudden—passing through multiple minds at once.
Thae’s head tilted slightly.
thump.
This time, she felt it through the deck—a soft vibration, faint but distinct.
Her antennae twitched, angling upward.
thump… thump.
The emotional field shifted again—uncertainty sharpening toward alarm.
Something above them.
She inhaled slowly, focusing. The air currents changed—subtle, but wrong. Dust. Dislodged particulate. Movement where there should be none.
Then—
crack.
A collective spike of surprise slammed into her awareness as the ceiling gave way.
And then—
Noise.
Chirping. Rapid, overlapping. Chaotic.
Bodies hitting surfaces. Skittering. Multiplying points of motion.
The emotional field fractured into disarray—shock, confusion, irritation, a spike of panic from someone near the end of the table.
Thae did not flinch.
Instead, she reached outward.
Not with her hands—but with her mind.
Where others saw chaos, she felt structure.
Small presences. Simple. Repetitive. Multiplying.
Dozens.
No—more.
They weren’t complex minds—barely more than instinctual pulses—but there were so many, overlapping in a strange, rhythmic chorus.
Hungry.
Reproducing.
Expanding.
A soft weight landed in her lap.
She stilled, then slowly lowered her hand.
Her fingers met fur—warm, dense, vibrating faintly. The creature emitted a soft coo, its tiny presence brushing her telepathic field like a gentle, meaningless echo.
“…Alive,” she murmured.
A ball of fur landed upon Ron’s plate with a chink of the porcelain. “What the!” He exclaimed before looking upward to see another falling atop of him just in time for it to hit him square in the forehead. “Ouch! Wha…” a heavy sigh, “Tribbles…”
When the first brownish ball of fur had dropped from the ceiling Tim had stood up, making his chair fall backwards. "What the." He exclaimed in reaction. "Are those tribbles," Ellen asked as she reached for one. "Do you have to touch them" Tim asked softly, "They're... Just..." Ellen petted the one in her hands. "What's wrong?" Tim didn't answer but simply looked around the room to the chaos. Tribbles everywhere were falling from the ceiling.
"Oh no..." Narud commented with a deadpan expression, that had more bland to it. The lovable Tribbles all squeaking and purring around him, the Kriosian rolled his eyes. "I wonder who is going to pay for this..." He muttered.
"What?" Syzia simply said as their meal was invaded by Tribbles. Her antennae taking on a questioning stance. To most humanoids Tribbles were soothing, but for some reason, she found the sound uncomfortable.
Looking around and seeing the chaos wasn't not just their table. Tribbles were everywhere. The whole restaurant was having a tribble problem. Or problems relating to hundred of tribbles landing in peoples laps, tables and food. He'd even seen someone stumble over a couple while carrying a tray of drinks. So, they were kinda lucky compared to the people in the trajectory of that drinks tray. "Let's all take a breath and see if there's anything we can do. "If it was up to him, they would leave and get something to eat somewhere else. "Anyone got any ideas?"
"Well, we should start by keeping them away from food, if they eat, it will only make things worse." Syzia said.
Narud did his best to grab what food plates and bowls he could in a stack, he attempted to shift from his position but just as many tribbles were on the floor as there was on the table. Probably more, way more as some just popped out of others. "Computer, are tribbles all over the station?"
"Tribbles have been observed in 36% of the station." the computer voice said.
"Oh, great," Tim said.
