Mission: S03E01 - Something about Tribbles
Location: Langley Station - Arboretum
Timeline: MD03 - 19:00hrs

ON:

Richard knew he was running a risk with this idea but if he was honest with himself; he couldn't see there being anymore options. It felt like this time would be make or break for them both. God only knew that there was only so much more he could continue to give before it was time to throw in the towel.

Hadn't he already decided to give up? He questioned why was he even driving this when it was Kate who needed to make the step? Although who was he kidding...his biggest weakness was that he would always meet her in the middle. How could you truly be with somebody, want to be with somebody; unless you met them in the middle. It was Kate's turn to show she felt the same or next stop was building a new chapter of himself in without her.

Coming closer to the figure leaning against the railing, Richard took a slow and steady breath. Kate stood with her back to him; given him a moment to just look at her; take it all in. In jeans and a light top; the woman's brown hair had been left loose around her shoulders. Her body a silhouette against the light of the arboretum, allowing his mind to cast back to the first time that they had met. "It doesn't feel like that long ago that I met a woman in a place similar to this. At that time I tried to persuade her to let me take away all of her worries and woes."

"Have you ever been so busy that you don't have time to think about the things you miss in life?" Kate said, repeating the words she'd said all those ago. She took a deep breath before turning around. This is it!

Richard couldn't help himself as his breath caught at the beauty of this woman. Her facial features were light against her pale skin; the brown of her eyes told so much as he began to realise a veil that was normally present to keep a distance seemed to be missing in this moment.

Shaking himself from his stupor, the man moved forward to brush a loose piece of hair back from Kate's face as he gently tucked it behind her ear. It'd been so long since he'd been able to just touch, to be able to allow that gentle spark of contact send a warmth through his hand. Memories tugged in his mind as reminders of why he had pushed through the last eighteen months when so many would have given up months ago. "And in this moment...what are the things that you miss in your life?"

Kate closed her eyes and leaned into his touch. Why had she ever decided she didn't need this. Didn't need him. "You," She lifted her chin and kissed him on the lips. Showing him her intentions, her feelings. Something she should have done months ago.

The taste of her lips intensified how Richard was feeling as his hands dropped from the woman's face before they moved to cup her hips; drawing her even closer. Drinking from her lips; the man began to loose himself as passion threatened to overwhelm. A basic primal urge fought to overtake everything else. He wanted this woman with every fiber of his being and he was being to be allowed see that she wanted the same in return.

In a flawless motion; the man moved his mouth so as not to break the kiss; lifting Kate until she was perched on the railing behind. The change in position allowed him to step between her legs; bringing their bodies even closer.

This was not what she had in mind when she'd told him earlier she wanted to talk. But she didn't regret taking this step. Just turning her mind of for a change and simply feel.

Richard's hand moved into Kate's hair part of his brain begged him to take this moment and just take her. The little moans he heard, the feel of her fingers holding him tighter. It would have been so simple to just take her here and now; take what both bodies were screaming for. Every inch of his body screamed to bridge the gap; to hold her with nothing between and show her how much he worshiped her body as much as her mind. Worshipped her whole being.

The sexual frustration mingled with his need for answers but there was still one tiny part of his brain that screamed at him to stop. Screamed about the urgent need for them both to talk and to stop running away from their fears. His body would have taken Kate there and then; but how much further along would they both be be if he allowed it to happen?

Breaking the kiss, Richard lay his forehead against Kate's as he fought to control his breathing; his hands still on her waist. He closed his eyes as he fought against his body and mind. He needed to control this; if he didn't do this now, he could loose so much more. Breathlessly he managed to force out the words. "As much as I want to finish this with every fiber of my being...we need to talk."

Kate let out a chuckle. "Yeh, we really should, shouldn't we." She slid of the railing so they were at a almost similar height again. Still touching him with her body. "I'm sorry," she started. "I'm sorry for all the mixed signals and the undeciveness."

Richard took a deep and slow breath as he tried to funnel his bodies reaction to be able to better handle this situation. The touch of her body against his was not helping in any way. As his brain raced to catch up; the meaning of her words began to sink in.

The man's hands slid down to gently grasp each of Kate's hands in his own as his thumb gently careessed over the knuckle. Just this little contact helped to ground him as he listened to and processed her words. It allowed a better contact that worked as a pivot point for his brain. "What about now? How do you feel about me...us?"
