Mission: S03E01 - Something about Tribbles
Location: Shuttlecraft Justice SFJAG-01
Timeline: MD02 - 1200

The stars stretched into silver ribbons as the long-range transport dropped from warp.

Langley Station appeared moments later.

It did not reveal itself gracefully.

It emerged.

A massive, installation hung in the void like a silent verdict — dark duranium surfaces broken by disciplined lines of white running lights and the faint blue shimmer of shield harmonics. A large massive mushroom rose from the central hub like the towers of some ancient fortress, their sensor arrays slowly blinking, always watching.

Langley did not welcome.

Langley assessed.

Inside the shuttle, Commander Alaric Voss stood alone.

He had not sat once during the final hour of approach.

Hands clasped behind his back, posture perfectly aligned, he watched the station grow larger in the viewport. His reflection stared back at him in the glass — calm, composed… and carrying the quiet weight of a man who had outlived too many turning points in his career.

His new home.

Or his exile.

Starfleet had been deliberately vague.

A soft tone broke the silence.

“Commander… we’ve been cleared for Docking. Arrival in three minutes.”

“Thank you,” Voss replied.

His voice was low. Measured. The kind of voice that made people lean in without realizing they were doing it.

He adjusted the fall of his uniform jacket — not from vanity, but from habit. Details mattered. They always had.

Especially here.

Langley Station had a reputation.

Assignments to Langley were rarely random. Officers were sent here when Starfleet needed something… complicated. Investigations. Legal oversight. Strategic arbitration. Sometimes rehabilitation.

Sometimes containment.

The transport glided past one of the outer defense pylons, its shadow briefly swallowing the stars. Through the viewport, Voss could see crews moving along illuminated gantries, cargo pods drifting under tractor control, a patrol escort sliding silently into a nearby berth.

Life continued.

But beneath it was tension.

Always tension.

The docking clamps engaged with a resonant thud.

Atmospheric seals locked.

A green indicator pulsed along the hatch frame.

For a moment, Commander Alaric Voss did not move.

This was the threshold.

Behind him lay his previous command… the unfinished reports… the political fallout… the quiet commendations that would never be public.

Ahead of him lay Langley.

A station where reputations were dismantled.
Where truth was dissected.
Where careers ended — or were reforged.

He stepped forward.

The hatch irised open.

Cool station air greeted him, carrying the faint sterile scent of recycled atmosphere and polished metal. A reception party waited just beyond the threshold — security officers at attention, operations staff poised with padds, and at their center a tall woman in command red whose expression was carefully professional… but unmistakably curious.

Everyone had heard about him.

Voss stepped onto the gantry with steady certainty.

Boots striking deck plating with quiet authority.

He offered the assembled officers a small, respectful nod.

“Commander Alaric Voss,” he said simply.
“Reporting for duty.”

Langley Station watched him arrive.

And somewhere deep within its vast superstructure — in offices filled with sealed records, in secure vaults of classified testimony, in briefing rooms where difficult decisions were made — the future had just shifted course.
