Mission: Second Chances
Location: Langley Station - Station Operations

Finally! Breana thought to herself as she reached the main area of Station Ops. Taking a moment, her gaze roamed over the area as she smiled and pondered everything. This was all her's... well, kinda. Then again, that thought caused her breath to catch as realization set in. This was hers? She had to oversee it all? Operations on a ship was one thing, but this... this was so much bigger, so much more, so much..... Oh hell.

Nervously now, she started making her way to what would currently be her office, at least temporarily for now. A slight nod was given to some of the officers that glanced her way. Later, she would make time to learn their names and about them, but for now it was one thing at a time and the current time was finding the office and seeing the current reports.

As the new woman entered the Office, Hannah looked up from her reports and said. "Good day, how can I help you, ma'am?"

Breana smiled warmly to the other woman. "I'm Lieutenant Rathburn, new acting Chief of Station ops. A hand lifted to push back a strand of hair to tuck it behind her ear once more. "Just wanting to take a moment to check out the area, get the lowdown of what's been going on. Those basic things."

"Welcome aboard, Lieutenant, I'm First Lieutenant Hannah Reeves, I've been holding the fort." Hannah said. "What do you wish to see first?"

"Why don't you tell me a little about what you think I need to know first. And then I'll take a look at the most recent reports." Rathburn replied after a split moment as she tried to take in the concept of everything going on around her and in her mind.

"Ma'am, I'm unaware of your background, but on this Station, Station Ops is an amalgamation of Operations and Engineering. Langley doesn't have a separate Engineering Department, this essentially makes you Operations Chief and Chief Engineer, and it is the largest department on the station. I'm not trying to scare you, Ma'am, I'm just letting you know what this position entails, as I wasn't informed when I took the position temporarily as a favour to the Captain." Hannah explained.

"I've got understanding of what Station Ops is, but thanks for the reminder." She said with a slight smile, trying not to let Hannah's reminder stir those nerves once more. "So, besides the description of this job, what's the important things going on around here that I need to know?"

"We're currently aided the colony in their rebuild while the Science Department works on reversing the damage done to the planet." Hannah said. "And we have a civilian engineer, Ragnar Mellark lending a hand." She added.

Civilians could be a help or a hindrance, it would take time to see what this one would end up being, though if they trusted him to help out she'd give him the benefit of the doubt that he was a good guy. A slight nod was given as she listened and took the bit of info in. "And the crew, everyone get along well together for the most part?"

"Yes, in fact CPO McKenzie, the Quartermaster and I are good friends." Hannah replied.

"Always a good thing when the crew gets along with each other." Rathburn said with a smile. "Alright, I still have a few more things to do before I take over, so I'll let you get back to work also. Thanks for the heads up on things."

"Aye, ma'am." Hannah said. "Nice to meet you."

"Good to meet you also, looking forwards to getting to know you more later." With that, Breana turned and headed out for her next stop.
