Mission: Irrevocably Changed
Location: Captain's Office
Timeline: Mission Day 49 at 1100

ON:

After meeting with Ragnar, Anahera had set up an audience with Kate. Now was the day of the audience and Kate had asked her to arrive early. Arriving at Kate's office, she addressed the Captain's Yeoman. "Morning Flores, how's the Boss?"

"Busy, but you can go through, Commander." Flores replied,

"Thanks, Petty Officer." Anahera said and entered Kate's Office proper. "Morning, Kate, how's things?" She asked.

Kate looked up from the padd she was reading with in her other hand the always present cup of coffee. She removed her booths from her desk and put the padd down. "Ana! What can I do for you? You want something to drink, help yourself." and she pointed to the replicator in the corner of the office.

Ana ordered herself a decaffeinated coffee. "As you know, I met with Mr. Ragnar Mellark." She began as she took her drink. "And I booked an audience for him with you, I thought you might want to know my impression of him, before you meet him."

Kate raised an eyebrow. "Mellark? Help me, will you. Name sounds familiar."

"He's a Romulan civilian who came here with his son." Ana said. "His shuttle is currently being repaired."

That didn't really explain her much. "And why is there a Romulan having his shuttle repaired at a Starfleet station. What is he doing all the way out here?"

"It appears he's on the outs with his people, some of the damage his shuttle sustained was from disruptor fire and his engines had been pushed to maximum, my guess is that he's fallen fowl of the Tal'Shiar." Ana replied.

"Have you spoken to him about his intentions? Do you know what his plans are?" she asked the Security Chief.

"His intentions are to find a safe haven for him and his child." Ana said. "He may even ask for asylum. I don't believe he poses a threat to the station or her inhabitants."

"Hmmm, ok." Kate said as she tried to remember the procedure for asylum seekers. "Set a meeting up, I'll have Flores set up any follow up meetings for him. You know what department handles that, by any chance?"

"My understanding is that you, as Station Commander, can provide temporary asylum, while Command processes his application to which I will attach a statement of my findings." Ana replied. "Usually Intel would also provide a statement, but as Intelligence is part of my department, I can take care of it."

"The intelligence department falls under the Strategic Operations department, which will receive a Chief in two days time. I'll add said statement to the list of tasks for the new chief." Kate said, remembering the report she had read about finally receiving someone for that position. "When have you set up the meeting with me and this person?"

"In about half an hour from now." Ana replied.

"Good, I'll be there." Kate said. "Where? Conference room?"

"Conference Room 2, its not exactly up and running, but I had Operations put in a table, chairs, a replicator and computer terminal for your use." Ana explained.

At that Kate looked up surprised. "We have a second conference room. When did that happen?"

"Two days ago, I was an unused part of the station, so I had it converted." Anahera said. "I sent through the proper paper work, didn't you receive it?"

Kate laughed and signalled to the stack of Padd's on her desk that was still waiting for her attention. "What do you think?"

"I see your point." Anahera said. "Do you miss being a lowly Security Officer?" She asked.

"You have no idea..." Kate said.

"Well we'll have to get a drink sometime and reminisce." Anahera said.
