Personal History Gino is a Chicago native born and bred. His family has loose ties with the Syndicate through the Danrisa family, though they have never really been that active in Syndicate business. Gino’s father is a restaurateur himself, but Gino originally didn’t want to follow in his footsteps.

Gino went to university and studied computers and programming, especially holo-programming. He also discovered a creative interest in writing and storytelling and holonovels. Upon graduation, he got a job making training holos, which he found boring. So he decided to try his hand at his first holonovel.

Gino found little success at first writing “serious” novels. It wasn’t until he tried his hand at writing a lurid, historical bodice ripper under the nom de plume Richard Longwood that he had his first break into the business.

Gino continued writing -- and still writes -- romantic holonovels of the more titillating variety. When his father had a health scare and retired, Gino took over the restaurant. He had a brilliant idea for a new kind of restaurant, and had plenty of money of his own to implement it.

Gino developed the first holo-restaurant. Besides holographic employees, he made the entire dining experience holographic. One could step off the Chicago street and into Venice for authentic Italian food. The next week they could enter a Tokyo geisha house for the best sushi in the city.

The idea was so successful that Gino started to branch out. He used his initial Chicago location as his headquarters and could open other restaurants throughout the quadrant using a holographic version of himself. He focused on locations with less competition and more need for a fine dining experience. Currently he has locations on Cheron Station, Deep Space Five, and Langley Station, as well as a few planetside locations around the quadrant.

Gino makes regular trips to each location, so while any particular Gino is likely to be a hologram, you might occasionally meet the real man himself. His identity as Richard Longwood, however, is a poorly kept secret.

The main waitress at Gino's is the hologram Charlene, modeled after a character in his novels:
