Langley Station

Welcome to Langley Station!

We, here at Langley, are absolutely not your "average RPG". Our primary focus is providing our writers with a shipload (of individual opportunities, including a focus on PC and NPC reactions. As a simm, our focus is on individual character development, coupled collaboration between our writers, and even with other RPG’s. We operate in our own, unique open world system. As a result, we run 'mini-missions' that focus on events related to the fleet, or more frequently, specifically to station development: reflections of an ever-changing set of political and logistical realities in our stellar neighborhood. We strive for each writer to have a firm idea of what their personal story is: and as a Command Team, it's our goal to mediate, and facilitate, the growth and development of our entire crew as writers and as characters.

A small IC update as I submitted it for the fleet. In time I hope to write updates like this for new people so they can easily read back what happened so far.

“Monthly Update for Starfleet Command” Kate said to start the new report she had to send in. Normally Ron would do this, but he was on a mission so the task had fallen back to her.

“It’s been almost six months since the station got activated here and I think we’ve almost completed settling in. We’re still looking for some people in key positions, but overall, all department have everything they need to run.

This week has been a bit slower due to a simple virus that somehow got through the filters and caused many crew to be sick and unable to work. Engineering says the filters have been fixed and medical reports most crew will be ready to work in a few days.

Most actions on the station are just normal activity of what you’d expect on a frontier station. The research department is working hard on finding a way to reverse the planets soil problem. Other then that the XO is on a away mission with a small team. The Sedna is on a diplomatic mission, they’re due back in a couple of days. The Canterbury is about to set of on its first big mission since joining Langley. They have a 3-month survey mission planned of the space surrounding the station.

That’s it for this month.” Next month’s update would hopefully be done by Ron, Kate thought. She hated jobs like this.

Another three months have passed since I did the Christmas awards. So here is a new round of awards:

Langleyversary First Year: For our members who have been a member of our family for more than a year.
Tuula Voutilainen

Langleyversary Second Year: For our members who have been a member of our family for more than a year.
Megan DuBois

The Valentine writing award: Megan DuBois and Ranulf MacCloud. For your great story "The Blind Date".

Character in the Spotlight: Zemi N'Orgun, Zemi is a great character to write with or read about as she is so unlike what you normally come across in the world of Star Trek. The species has been well worked out, with a number of interesting challenges.

Post in the Spotlight: Business Matters by Domin Wolfe, for an great inside in the less visible side of El-Aurian family relations.

Captain's Personal Merit: John Sheppard - I'm really thankful about how you took the task of Community Hero upon you and how you take initiative within your role. Petje af.

That's it for this time. If you have any suggestions or ideas for award or want to nominate someone, please contact one of the command team.

Hello all.

As you are aware there is a current health pandemic spreading across the globe (unless you live under a rock). As much as we are an online space, it does mean it will have some effect on what we do here.

Firstly we anticipate illness among us, and that may have an effect on activity. As such there is no expectation for posting requirements to be met at this time. We simply ask you to attempt to post and tag as much as you usually would. But no fear if you can’t. We get it.

Secondly Kate is currently self isolating and is having to deal with homeschooling as the schools in the Netherlands have closed. As such she is unable to spend as much time as she usually would on Langley. For the time being could you all please send any queries, questions, or issues in my direction rather than in Hera. This will help her to focus on her family and her own health.

Keep well

Ladies and gentleman of Langley Station.

As of January 1st 2020 I have been appointed the Community-hero position here on Langley, this means that I together with the command team of this station will be in charge of creating non-mission critical events to bolster our post counts and more importantly character development and just plain fun!

That being said I am happy to announce our first event of this year! Valantines day 2020! For this event the we have come up with the idea that each member of the crew goes on a blind date with another crew member and that each crew member sends a ' secret letter' to another crew member, the same way someone would do if they have a crush on someone in the real world. As for the blind dating part create a post together with another crew member where you take your character/NPC to dinner.

At the end of the event the command team if possible chooses two crew members who will vote on which couple deserve the Valantines day 2020 award, now keeping in mind with everyone's personal life and so we don't rush you all, the event shall last until the 28th of February.

Langley Station – January 2020

Sim Updates:
Nothing much changed. Working on a new writing contest for next month and working on reaching our posting requirement of one post a month per player. As I am writing this, we have 9 out of 14, which is a good start.
Didn’t do much to the website, except the usual updates and rearranging the wiki main page a bit. Also added the awards given just before Christmas to the pages and writers accounts.

Crew Updates:
Gained two crew: Director of Civilian Affairs Natsuko Akayama and Fighter Pilot Ranulf MacCloud.
Lost one crew: Engineer Victor.

Not really looking to have a specific position filled, but we have lots of interesting positions waiting, if anyone is interested.

Story Elements:

Continuing as usual. Have made progress on several stories and have much in the works.

Other Information:

After much consideration I’ve decided to remove Langley Station from Obsidian Fleet. I don’t want to go into much details for the why, just that is time for Langley to move on.

I have no hard feeling towards the fleet, just some differences of opinion over the last couple of months. I’ve did my best to help the fleet grow and improve, but I’m at a point where I can’t continue anymore.
