Mission: S01E02: First Unity
Location: Langley Station - Tier E - Dock E
Timeline: MD06 2400 Hours

Dock E was basically abandoned at this hour. This end of The Terminal was far down from most of the traffic. Ash suspected someone in Flight Control was likely paid under the table to shuttle certain ships this way for privacy.

Rilasa’s head turned this way and that. Ash knew her eyes were scanning beyond the visual spectrum for any shenanigans. Ash left the security details to her, as she was more than capable, and he studied the ship docked in the berth. It was bigger than a runabout, but not big enough to qualify as a true starship. It could carry some freight, but wasn’t especially designed for that. Like a runabout or shuttle, it could be handled by a single person, and likely had a couple passenger berths. He noted it had some nice phaser banks for its size. It was fast, maneuverable, and hit hard out of the gate, but it wasn’t meant for a stand up fight.

The rear hatch of the ship lowered and Hepzibah walked down with a small crate on a grav cart. “Take your pick,” she said, opening the case.

Ash and Rilasa moved to examine the merchandise. They were in pristine shape, obviously surplus from the Dominion War twenty years ago and never put into the field, even if they were two decades old. Ash was smart enough not to enquire how she had gotten them.

Rilasa scanned the weapons over with the sensors in her eyes. “These are good,” she told Ash. “Romulan would be better, but Cardassian will have to do,” she said, only a slight sneer in her voice.

“This is what I have,” Hepzibah said with a shrug. “This part of the quadrant, Cardie tech is easy to get. Some Dominion, too, though that is way pricier. Give me a week, I can probably get a line on some Romulan gear, but that’s clear across the quadrant. Plenty of that floating around after the Empire collapsed.”

“I know,” Rilasa said.

Hepzibah arched an eyebrow, her tail swishing curiously.

“This is good,” Ash said quickly. “Take a phaser, too, Ril,” he said when he noted her reaching for two disruptors. “So you have an option to stun.”

Rilasa shot Ash an angry look, but shrugged and chose a phaser as well. Ash added a few stun grenades to the purchase and handed over the latinum. It was a bit more than he’d bargained for, and left his purse a lot lighter.

Rilasa tossed the weapons into a bag. If they kept the power cells out of the weapons and in a shielded pouch, they would be safe from the station’s internal sensors.

“I don’t suppose you’re going across the border anytime soon?” Ash asked.

Hepzibah shook her head. “No, sorry. Unless you have the latinum to make it worth my while,” she said. “And you’re looking a little light.”

Ash gave a wry smile. “We’ll manage.”

Hepzibah shrugged. “Not my business.” She closed the crate and pushed the grav cart back up into the ship. “You ever want to get a drink while you’re here, look me up,” she told Ash with a wink.

Ash grinned. “I might do that,” he said as the hatch closed. He turned back to see Rilasa glaring at him.

“You keep insisting you have no feelings left for me, Ril,” Ash pointed out, growing sour. “Make up your damn mind.” With that, he stalked out of the docking bay.
