Personal History Raleigh was born aboard the USS Southern Cross to a family with a long Starfleet history. His father was the chief engineer. Raleigh grew up learning to tinker from his father, and took a special interest in computers. He grew up with Eric and Amber Colton, twin children of another officer on the Southern Cross, who became his best friends.

During the Dominion War, Raleigh and his brother and mother were sent back to Earth, settling on a Starfleet base outside San Francisco. Eric and Amber lived with them, since their mother was dead.

Raleigh’s father was killed during the war, and John Colton survived, vowing to take care of his friend’s family. He and Raleigh’s mother eventually married, uniting the two families and cutting short a budding romance between Raleigh and Amber.

Raleigh was angered and hurt by his father’s death. He vowed never to have anything to do with Starfleet again. After a few troubled years, he settled down, growing into a very handsome young man. He got into singing, acting, and modeling.

Raleigh eventually joined a boy band called The Lost Boys. He parlayed that into a solo career, and then into a Hollywood holo-movie career. In Hollywood, Raleigh insisted on doing his own stunts. He learned martial arts and other skills for action movies.

He became a star sensation with teenage girls and young women. He developed a reputation for womanizing and hard partying. This lasted until he crashed a shuttle while under the influence and sent his then-girlfriend to the hospital, and nearly died himself.

After recovery, Raleigh was visited by his stepsister Amber. She scolded him for wasting his life, and what would his father think. Stung by her words, Raleigh went out on a drunken binge with his best friend Eric. On a dare, he signed up to join Eric at Starfleet Academy.

Raleigh was never one to go back on his word, so when he sobered up, he followed through on the dare. He did remarkably well at the Academy. He was still known for his hard partying and womanizing, but he kept it from getting out of control. He studied hard, too, always having had an interest in computers and engineering, and graduated near the top of his class with his pick of assignments.

Raleigh served as a flight officer on the USS Nemesis, eventually rising to assistant chief, before taking the assignment as Chief Flight Control Officer aboard the USS Canterbury
